Big Miracle

Big Miracle is inspired by an incredible true story that happened back in 1988. Three gray whales get trapped by ice in the Arctic Circle above Alaska and nobody can figure out the best way to help them - and the area is slowly freezing and closing their only breathing hole.  The story starts out as kind of a joke and grows so much that it eventually captures the attention and heart of the entire world!  Everyone is rooting for the whales, affectionately known as “Fred,” “Wilma,” and “Bamm-Bamm.”  I liked that everyone worked together to help them, whether they lived there or were visiting or even American or Russian or whatever – the whales were what mattered!  The working conditions were like nothing most of them had ever experienced – and the EXTREME cold made most everything impossible.  I laughed, I cried, and I rooted for the whales along with everyone else!  I really enjoyed this one – even just to get away from all the “normal” news stories for awhile.

  1. I loved this one too it had everything you mentioned, laughter, tears and cheering. It was a movie I felt good about showing to my children, the whole family could pile on the couch and watch. I also appreciated the fact that it showed the value of team work and making sacrifices, even it if meant working outside in the Antarctic. We rented this by the suggestion of a Dish coworker. It was great because we were able to order it online at Dishonline.com. I loved not leaving the house and also being able to watch it on my laptop. It saved us so much time!
